PAMOJA SUDAN

The Republic of Sudan is a North African country, bordering the Red Sea, between Egypt and Eritrea. Sudan’s neighbouring countries are Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya and Uganda.

PAMOJA Sudan REFLECT Network was created to promote learning, sharing and to continue the evolution of the REFLECT experience in Sudan, with the aim of building a critical mass of literate people, aware of their rights and empowered to develop their communities.

The organisation has 22 members but the number is growing with more than five new institutions undergoing registration.

Pamoja Sudan’s objectives are:

  • To promote and build capacities of local institutions (CBOs, NGOs, Government, etc) in the REFLECT approach and related participatory techniques.
  • To ensure an efficient flow of information and exchange of experiences to improve the REFLECT methodology through worldwide networking.
  • To support cross-country collaboration and innovation of the REFLECT approach to key thematic issues such as gender, poverty, human rights, peace-building, HIV/AIDS and governance.
  • To influence relevant policies and practices of NGOs, Government and donor agencies to support Adult Education and participatory local development.

Activities

Pamoja Sudan is involved in assisting various organisations in reviewing and conducting baseline surveys for the implementation of REFLECT programmes.
We are also committed to updating the REFLECT facilitators’ manuals of PAMOJA members according to the social changes occurring and also help the members to manage the literacy target and improve their reading and writing skills.

Pamoja Sudan conducts training of Trainers (ToT) and Training of Facilitators (ToF) workshops on REFLECT and related participatory techniques, in order to build local capacities.

We participate in celebrating the International and National Literacy Day, the Book Day, Women’s Day and Health Day. In addition to this, we help in facilitating and supporting a consistent flow of information and exchange of experience among REFLECT practitioners and other interested actors.
Pamoja Sudan Reflect Network is committed to fostering and improving implementation of the participatory monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) process among development organizations.
